About the artist Chilean violinist and composer Brian Urra blends jazz, soul, Celtic, and contemporary classical improvisation in his music. Currently in his final year at Berklee College of Music, Brian is pursuing a dual degree in jazz composition and performance and is a student at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute and the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice. As a composer, he explores strong melodies and grooves coming from his Chilean influences and roots. Some of his musical inspirations include composers like J.S. Bach, songwriters like Violeta Parra and Víctor Jara, and jazz artists like Kris Davis, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, and Thelonious Monk.
